Thales was selected for part of the Falcon military communications project
In August 2006, Thales was reported to have won work on the first phase of the United Kingdom Army’s Falcon communications-network project.
Role within a larger programme
The record said BAE had secured the wider first-phase contract and selected Thales to supply the transmission subsystem and cryptography. Falcon was intended to replace several existing military networks and support the sharing of substantial amounts of data between field personnel and headquarters.
Scope and date context
The announcement described a contract award and a stated project aim, not the completion, performance or present status of the network. This replacement deliberately leaves out damaged currency text and does not speculate about military capability. Its focus is the technical division of work described in the 2006 source.
