The trip notebook / Explicit-consent HTTP observation

Take a room-level connection snapshot.

With explicit consent, observe bounded HTTP transfers to Seoul, save local primary and backup snapshots, then check your actual call service separately.

Labels stay local · No automatic network test
A bounded observation, in this order.
  1. AgreeLabels + consent
  2. 5 HTTP samplesResponse time only
  3. 1 MB downObserved transfer
  4. 0.5 MB upServer acknowledgement
  1. Connect to the path you want to observe and label this room.
  2. Agree to the visible endpoint and data use, then start or cancel.
  3. Save a complete primary or backup snapshot and test your actual call service separately.
01 / Label this local observation

Read the observation at its actual scope.

The five samples are HTTP response times, not ICMP ping, packet loss or jitter. Transfer rates include this browser’s request/response timing. They describe a small exchange with one Seoul host, not guaranteed internet speed, sustained bandwidth or Zoom readiness.

Distance to the host, peering, the browser clock, connection setup, short-transfer overhead, congestion and application routing can bias the result. Repeat at a comparable place and time only after the 30-second client cooldown. Server rate limits may still refuse a test; an unavailable endpoint is not evidence your call will fail.

Illustrative example / No invented speed outcome

Compare two paths from the same desk.

Label the room Wi-Fi as primary and save its complete observation. Switch the laptop to a permitted phone hotspot, wait for the cooldown, relabel it as backup and run again. Compare the actual recorded numbers and timestamps. This example does not assume either connection is faster or suitable for calls.

Keep incomplete tests out of decisions.

Cancel stops the current request. Each step times out after ten seconds. Only five valid samples and both exact-sized transfers form a complete snapshot; partial, cancelled or malformed records cannot enter complete comparison. Saving and report downloads are local and optional. Browser storage may be blocked or cleared.

Use the checklist below in your actual service, and know how to switch before an important meeting. No HTTP number here earns a “passed for calls” label.

Separate manual check / Your actual application

Now open the real call service.

These ticks are your notes, not automated certification. Never rely on the Seoul sample alone.
