In a request for tender, The Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts said that it will be replacing its old PABX system with a more modern “feature-rich IP telephony system”. DCITA said it hoped to purchase 950 IP handsets, call manager, associated software and networking equipment among four of its locations throughout Canberra. The tender says handsets are a necessity, but any soft-phone solution would be considered. The system would be installed and compatible with DCITA’s current voice and IT providers. The changeover must occur by June 16, according the tender.
